About Our Chapter

Boston+Acumen is a self-organized, volunteer-led group that seeks to inspire and empower like-minded individuals in the greater Boston area who are passionate about supporting Acumen’s mission to create a world beyond poverty. Our chapter was established in June 2011 and is one of 25 +Acumen chapters around the world sharing the principles of patient capital, cultivating an understanding of Acumen’s values, and putting these principles into practice in our community.

Meet the team

Jack Walker

Jack Walker

Jack joined Boston+Acumen in 2015 as part of the Fundraising Team and now serves as the Chair of the Boston Chapter. He is currently an Associate at Thomas H. Lee Partners, a Boston-based private equity firm founded in 1974 that invests in growth-oriented businesses. At THL, Jack focuses on Business & Financial Services companies, identifying and performing diligence on potential investment opportunities, executing new investments, and managing portfolio companies. He especially enjoys meeting with management teams, fostering relationships with those teams, and helping to form and execute growth strategies. In his free time, Jack enjoys getting outside to ski, golf, and surf. He also enjoys raising money running for organizations like Dana Farber and Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. Jack holds an A.B. in Economics and English from Harvard College. He also earned a diploma from Phillips Academy Andover, where he graduated Cum Laude.

Cameron Wells

Cameron Wells

Cameron joined the +Acumen Boston in 2016, where he supports the Education team. Currently, Cameron works as a data analyst and storyteller at C Space, a consumer collaboration agency that delivers customer inspired growth to some of the biggest brands in the world. He also is a member of C Space’s pro bono team, and has worked as a freelance marketing and strategy consultant for mission-based organizations. A Boston native, Cameron enjoys running in the snow, eating Thai food, and talking about books and music. He has a B.A. in Global Perspectives from Principia College.

Preeti Prasad

Preeti Prasad

Preeti joined Boston+Acumen in 2016 as part of the logistics team. Currently, she is a consultant in PwC’s asset management advisory practice and focuses on providing clients with value driven strategies around operations and technology. Prior to PwC, Preeti has worked at various consulting and market research firms providing services in data and analytics, performance benchmarking, and strategy consulting in the financial services industry. Preeti is an active volunteer and mentor for the Big Sisters of Greater Boston and during her free time, enjoys playing tennis, throwing puppy parties, being a foodie, and taking trips to her hometown in Queens. Preeti received her B.A. in International Relations with a minor in Business Administration from SUNY Geneseo.

Erin Kreischer

Erin Kreischer

Erin joined Boston+Acumen in 2016 as part of the logistics team. She currently works at English At Large as their ESL Programs and Database Manager and is responsible for recruiting, training and placing volunteers within the agency. Erin also oversees program evaluation and analyzes program data to report the agency’s performance to funders and community partners. Prior to joining English At Large, Ms. Kreischer was an AmeriCorps member at the MIRA Coalition in Boston where she taught U.S. Citizenship classes and helped organize monthly Citizenship Clinics. Relatively new to New England, Erin enjoys visiting local eateries and taking weekend trips to the Green Mountains. She graduated from Juniata College in Huntingdon, PA with a B.A. in International Politics and a minor in Economics.

Haejin Hwang

Haejin Hwang

Haejin joined Boston+Acumen in 2015 as part of the Communications team and is currently a Project Analyst working at a full-service corporate law firm. At Mintz Levin, she rotates through different industry and practice areas of the law in order to gain an understanding of both broad and specific legal and corporate business frameworks. Currently she performs a variety of legal research projects with attorneys in the Intellectual Property and Pro Bono sections. Additionally, she has worked on several large IP cases as well as pro bono matters that involve political asylum and representation. Haejin graduated from Cornell University in 2015 with a degree in Government specializing in International Relations and a minor in Law and Society. With a passion for community development, social justice, and policy, she interned with Americorps, Teach for America, and the Tompkins County municipal government while at Cornell. Interested in international development and social enterprise, Haejin joined the Boston+Acumen team to learn more about the space that lies at the intersection of the nonprofit and business realms—which is why she is extremely excited about volunteering with such an inspirational team!

Erika Desmond

Erika Desmond

Erika joined Boston+Acumen’s marketing team in 2015. She currently works as a Business Development Associate at HourlyNerd, which connects top consultants to company projects. A native Bostonian, she taught English for two years in Austria as a Fulbright ETA, and has also lived in Germany, Lebanon, Italy, and Poland. Erika previously worked with the non-profit organizations Unite Lebanon Youth Project and Seeds of Peace, and is a member of the leadership team of Net Impact Boston. When she’s not packing her suitcase or studying a new language, Erika loves skiing, hiking, rock climbing, and Italian cooking. She earned her BA in English from Hamilton College and graduated from Phillips Exeter Academy.

Jun Park

Jun Park

Jun joined Boston+Acumen in 2016 as part of the Fundraising Team to support Acumen’s global mission to alleviate poverty. He is currently an Associate at Thomas H. Lee Partners, a Boston-based private equity firm founded in 1974 that invests in growth-oriented businesses. At THL, Jun focuses on Media, Information Services, and Technology companies, identifying and performing diligence on potential investment opportunities, executing new investments, and managing portfolio companies. He especially enjoys learning about exciting up-and-coming technology companies and meeting visionary management teams. In his free time, Jun enjoys going to a gym, playing golf, and fly fishing. Jun holds a BA in Business Administration – Finance from University of Washington and served in the Korean Army during college for two years.

Kevin Chu

Kevin Chu

Kevin joined Boston+Acumen in 2016 and currently serves on the Fundraising Team. Outside of B+A, Kevin is an Analyst in the healthcare team at F-Prime Capital Partners, a global venture capital firm investing in healthcare and technology. At F-Prime, Kevin spends his time evaluating new investment opportunities across the therapeutics, med tech, healthcare services, and healthcare IT sectors as well as working with portfolio companies on business development, growth strategy, and operations. Outside of work, Kevin enjoys basketball, live music, and ethnic foods. Kevin is both Taiwanese and Canadian, and graduated from the University of Pennsylvania where he studied Bioengineering and Entrepreneurship.
